Having had friends in high school who were hearing impaired, I witnessed some of the challenges they faced in a hearing world.

From the first page I could not put this down. His story is deep and open. It’s very hard exposing your most private thoughts and bearing your soul. That’s what I found in this book. Open and honest. At times funny and at times he broke my heart. A must read. He takes you deep into his silent world.

In this autobiography, Jeffrey skillfully brings his intimate history to life. I almost felt like I was there, walking besides him invisibly. His stories are raw and real. You will be fascinated, develop an admiration, feel deeply moved, have your heart broken, raise an eyebrow occasionally, cheer and clap and walk away from this autobiography with somberness. Jeffrey beautifully captures the shared experience and life of a Deaf/Hard of Hearing individual and weaves in snippets of the Deaf culture throughout his story. Not only that, he also gives us intimate and vulnerable glimpses of a man’s heart journeying through life which requires incredible courage to do so. Run, not walk, to purchase this book.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading The Watcher by Jeffrey Barbieri. This author captures the details in this story so well. You find yourself rooting for the hero and then at times scratching your head wondering what he was thinking. What I especially enjoyed about the story is how well it flowed. Truly a page turner and never a dull moment in the storyline. This is a book I would highly recommend from this author. Can’t wait to read The Traveler next in this series. Great reading!
